Bollywood beauty Katrina Kaif has reportedly been offered a role in Sujoy Ghosh's woman-centric film.
The actress is likely to play a single mother in Ghosh's upcoming film, which is based on a Japanese thriller novel titled "The Devotion Of Suspect X" by author Keigo Higashino, reported The Times of India. The film is yet to be named.
Buzz is that the makers have approached Kaif for the meaty role and the actress is said to have liked the script. While the "Dhoom 3" actress is said to be in talks with them regarding the project, the deal has not yet been finalized.
If Kaif signs the dotted line, the sexy actress would be seen in a completely different avatar in the film, which will definitely be a treat to her fans. Additionally, the film may prove to be a major upgrade in Kaif's career and might even change the misconceptions that the audience holds about her acting abilities.
Interestingly, Kaif was not the first choice of the award-winning director. Ghosh who shot to fame after the huge success of Vidya Balan starrer "Kahaani" had earlier approached Balan for the lead role. But the "Bobby Jasoos" actor opted out of it, which then passed on to Kangana Ranaut, who too turned it down.
It now remains to be seen if Ghosh, who is known for his female-oriented films, can pull the best out of the "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara" actress. Moreover, buzz is that the movie will be rolled out by Ekta Kapoor's production house.
Meanwhile, Kaif is busy shooting for her upcoming films. She is currently in Cape Town shooting for Anurag Basu's detective flick, "Jagga Jasoos" along with beau Ranbir Kapoor, which will release worldwide on 29 May 2015.
The actress will be soon seen in "Bang Bang" opposite superstar Hrithik Roshan. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the action flick also stars Jaaved Jaffrey, Danny Denzongpa and Pavan Malhotra in pivotal roles. The recently released trailer of "Bang Bang" has already received overwhelming response from the audience and is all set to hit theatres on 2 October 2014.
