Varun Dhawan-Alia Bhatt's "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" has turned out to be a hit film not just in India but also in the overseas box office.
The film minted over ₹76 crore in three weeks (till 31 July) in India, while its collections from overseas markets stand at over ₹14 crore, according to film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh.

"Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania", which hit the screens on 11 July, received good response from critics as well as from the audience.
The romantic comedy entertainer, directed by Shashank Khaitan, fared well since its first day and crossed the ₹50 crore in its first week at the domestic box office. With no other big Hindi film releases, the Varun Dhawan starrer continued its successful run in its second week.
However, with the release of Salman Khan's "Kick", the business of "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" has been affected since its third week. The film has minted over ₹76 crore at the end of the third week. Its collections are likely to drop further as "Kick" will be dominating the box office this week as well.
Neverthelesss, the film has already turned out to be smash hit. With the success of the comedy entertainer, Varun Dhawan is on a roll with back-to-back hit films. The actor's first release of the year – "Main Tera Hero" – earned ₹50.60 crore as lifetime figures, according to Bollywood Hungama. Now, his recently-released film has also performed good business at the box office.
On the other hand, Alia has tasted success for the third time this year with her films "Highway", "2 States" and "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" doing well at the box office. "2 States" has surpassed the ₹100 crore club and has turned out to be a huge hit.
It could be difficult for the Khaitan directorial to enter into the ₹100 crore club as there a few big Hindi films, including Akshay Kumar's "Entertainment" and Ajay Devgn's "Singham Returns," gearing up for release one week after the other. "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" is expected to lose huge chunk of screens to accommodate new releases, which could affect its business.
